Farm Fresh To You

A few weeks ago, I was in our office kitchen grabbing my daily 3 o'clock snack, when I saw one of my co-workers chopping up a spectacular looking cabbage.

Zach Morris style time-out: Did I really just write "spectacular looking cabbage?" I'm an even bigger dork than I initially suspected.

Anyways, she went on to tell me all about the local and organic produce delivery she gets on a biweekly basis, and I was immediately enchanted with the concept, and after looking into it, I signed up myself later that day.

(Not my picture, I ate some stuff before I took a picture, so picture from here. I'll photograph my box next week, promise!)

Farm Fresh To You is my latest obsession. I love how you can choose so many options, from delivery schedule (every week, every other week, every third week, monthly), to what comes in your box (half-fruit, half-veggies, more fruit less veggies, more veggies less fruit), how big of a box you want (small, medium or large), if you want all local or opt for all organic (some produce comes from other organic farms out-of-state), and you can even select items you don't want, so allergies and dislikes would never be a problem! I also love the fact that there's no commitment, and you can cancel any shipment with out penalty if you're going to be away!

Zach Morris style time-out: You should know I'm not being paid to write this, even though it might sound like it. But Farm Fresh To You, if you'd like to pay me, I wouldn't try and stop you.

I got my first delivery last Thursday, and I couldn't have been happier with it! Here's what came in my medium sized box:

4 Fuji Apples
2 Lb. Minneola Tangelos
2 Kent Mangoes
2 Bacon Avocados
2 Lb. Butternut Squash
2 Lb. Red Potatoes
1 Bunch of Collard Greens
1 Gigantic Cauliflower
1 Bunch of Red Leaf Lettuce
1 Lb. Yellow Onions
1 Lb. Red Onions
1 Bunch of Red Radishes
1/2 Lb. Baby Spinach

All in all, it was over 20 lbs. of produce! I am so excited about this, and can't wait to get my next box!!! And don't worry, CSA's (Community Supported Agriculture) like Farm Fresh To You are probably available in your area too! Here's a website called Local Harvest that can help you find an organic produce delivery by you!

I'm off to go cook dinner (for Meatless Monday of course) using a majority of ingredients from my Farm Fresh box!!!

Hope you all had a great weekend!!!

XOXO,

  3. I'm going to look into this! Maybe it's one way to get me to eat vegetables I haven't tried before (or i'm just too lazy to buy because I don't know how to prepare them).

  5. Oh girl I am such a huggggge believer in CSAs! For 6 yrs in San Diego we were part of bewiseranch.com and it was glorious! Since being out here in AZ we havent signed up but when we find ourselves "Back Home" we will be signing up again! As long as you're willing to eat seasonal, there is no cheaper way to get your food. $25 box of local, organic produce thru Be Wise would have been $60 at WF or $40 at Tjs. How i miss it :)
