Thanksgiving Turkey Trot

Hi Loves! I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving! I just got back to L.A. last night, late, and went to work today, and now I'm home. I had zero minutes to post over the weekend (plus I forgot my camera cord as I told you) so I'm posting now, catching up!

First to post, is my Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot with my mom. That's us in the picture above. We had such a great time, and finished the 3.1 mile 5k race in less than 33 minutes. I think our official time was 32:47, which isn't bad considering I was running at an elevation of over 6,000 feet! I usually run at 0 feet, so being a mile higher than usual really put a strain on my lungs.

They even had a giant blow-up Turkey! (I wore my Nike Women's Marathon finisher T-shirt, and met two other women who had also done the race! That's why I love race shirts, cheesy as they are...)

When we got home, it was time to start cooking for our Thanksgiving dinner...but first mom and my brother Phil and I did some egg nog shots. I let some of my dairy-free rules out the window over the weekend, and I paid for it a little. I did, however, skip the turkey! Back to reality now!

And the greatest news? I get to go back to Colorado for Christmas! In less than 25 days I'll be back. I feel like making a construction paper chain like this one to count down the days. Did you ever make those as a kid?

  8. So glad you had a good Thanksgiving, love! I hear ya on the elevation; Albuquerque is at lik, 5500 feet and it took me a LONG time to get used to it! But the way I look at it is when I run a marathon on a coast somewhere, I'll have the easiest time breathing!

    So glad you're back!
