Thank you so much to everyone who sent me well wishes following my last post. I have been confined to my bed since I wrote that last post, with the exception of going to the doctor. It has been determined that I have not only the flu, but also a respiratory tract infection, so I've been taking both Relenza (an anti-viral flu medication), prescription cough syrup and antibiotics since Friday night. (So if there are any mistakes in this post, I totally blame the Codeine.)
We did not run yesterday. And I was bummed. We already rocked close to 21 miles on our last run, and we have next weekend too, so Running Buddy Selena and I figured it was better I get better than risk running. (However, considering I couldn't even get out of bed yesterday, a 22-miler would have been out of question anyway.)
I also did not get to go to the Dodger's game last night with my friend Julie and her husband and The Boyfriend, where they beat the Colorado Rockies and secured their spot in the playoffs. I have just been sitting here. Doing almost nothing. And normally, the thought of having 3 days to sit around and do nothing sounds AH-MAZING, but not when you're sick like this. I'm actually not sure I've ever been this sick.
After I wrote that last post, I went to the doctor and then went to the pharmacy to pick up my prescriptions, and then went to bed. And I haven't moved. Friday night the chills and sweats were so bad the goosebumps that covered my body were so strong my skin literally hurt. My cough wore my throat raw, and my energy level was that of a snail. My throat hurts worse now than it did post either one of my tonsillectomies. I'm just shocked at how fast this came on! Thursday when I left work I was fine! I had a tickle in my lungs and a slightly tender throat, but that's it. I feel as if I went from zero to 60 faster than a Ferrari. The only thing keeping my spirits up is The Boyfriend and his beyond-wonderful Mommy, who brought me a stack of magazines and some Matzo Ball Soup, which The Boyfriend literally had to hand-feed me, as bringing the spoon to my own mouth was just asking too much. He's just amazing. So here I am, just trying to get better. My fever has gone from 103.3 to 100.9, so that's progress! And there's a Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami marathon on E! tonight, so at least I'll have some entertainment.
Thanks again for your well-wishes and advice. I'd give you all a great big hug if I could, but you wouldn't want it, I'm probably still contagious.
