I Can't Let Go of Summer

I have decided that summer has come to an end way too soon. It's almost September?!? What?!? Where did the summer go? And more importantly, Why am I so shocked?

As I continue to mourn the loss of the summer, and you all continue to think, "Doesn't she live in L.A.? Isn't it summer all-year-round there?" I'd like to show you some super cute preppy-esque things that make me feel a little better about it all. And a drink that makes me feel a lot better.

(And actually, FYI-I'm just mourning the loss of the late-night sunshine. We are pretty far south here in relation to the equator, and not to get all geographical on you or anything, but it does make a difference. I like to run after work, and the fall and winter mean I can't do that anymore, as it's already dark by the time I've scaled the Los Angeles freeway system and made my way home. And The Boyfriend, being as loving and protective as he is, doesn't think it's a good idea for me to run in the dark. And I totally agree.)

I'd be perfectly happy however, donning the following attire and drinking one of my famous Raspberry Mojitos (recipe included at the bottom of the page) any time of year, as long as I can pretend it's still summer. Even though I'm going to be doing my mid-week running on a treadmill for the next 6 months, the following items make me lament the loss of the season a little bit less.

To start with, we need these place settings on the picnic table:

And these umbrellas in our Mojitos:

With these bracelets:

And then we can play with these super-duper cute rhinestone-studded dominoes:

I'm feeling better about it already.

Living and Loving In L.A.'s Famous Raspbery Mojito Recipe (It's Diet Friendly Too!)

Ingredients:
1 1/4 c. frozen raspberries
5 limes (juiced)
1/2 c. Baker's Sugar (Super-fine sugar also called Caster Sugar) OR 12 Splenda Packets
1/3 c. Mint Leaves
1 c. Bacardi RAZZ
Muddle first 5 ingredients together in a pitcher with a spoon. Really squash it all together.
Then add:
3 c. Club Soda or Lime Flavored Seltzer Water
1 can Sprite OR Sprite Zero

Pour over ice into four highball glasses. Serve.

Thank you for allowing me to get this out of my system, I promise to move on from summer and get over it. Now go out and enjoy what ever is left of night-time sunshine in your neck of the woods!

  5. That's a great tip... I will remember it. Normally I tighten my ab muscles for a few seconds at a time and it seems to really help. Nothin was helping last night! LOL
